Pune: The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA), Pune division, has announced a major housing lottery offering 6,294 apartments.

The units are spread across Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad cities, PMRDA (Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority) limits, as well as the districts of Solapur, Kolhapur, and Sangli.

Prospective homebuyers can begin submitting their applications for the draw starting Thursday afternoon (Oct 10) through the official MHADA website.

The lottery offers housing under several schemes. A total of 2,340 apartments will be available under the First-Come-First-Serve priority scheme.

In addition, 93 apartments are being offered from various ongoing MHADA projects, while 418 apartments will be available under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) on a First-Come-First-Serve basis.

Moreover, MHADA is offering 3,312 apartments under the 20% inclusive housing scheme, targeted at providing affordable housing for a broader segment of society. Another 131 apartments will be part of the 15% social housing scheme aimed at benefiting economically weaker sections.

This announcement provides a significant opportunity for individuals and families looking for affordable housing options in Pune and surrounding districts. Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications promptly through the MHADA portal.

Recently, MHADA has taken significant steps toward redeveloping its aging housing colonies in Pune city. To assess the feasibility of redevelopment and guide residents through the process, MHADA decided to appoint a consulting firm.

The tendering process for selecting the consultancy is already underway, and three companies have shown interest so far. With approximately 30 to 35 colonies and 28,000 to 30,000 apartments, many of MHADA’s buildings in Pune are over 30 years old, some even 40.
