Minor Caught with Pistol in Katraj; Police Seize Firearm

Pune: A 17-year-old boy from Lonikand was apprehended by Bharti Vidyapeeth police while visiting a friend in Katraj, armed with a pistol tucked into his waistband. The police seized the firearm, valued at approximately 35,000 rupees.

The incident unfolded on September 18 during a routine patrol by police constables Hanuman Masal, Chetan Gore, Mahesh Baravkar, and Nilesh Dhamdhere.

They received a tip-off about a youth, dressed in a T-shirt and jeans, standing with a visible pistol near the Katraj crematorium. Upon reporting the situation to senior officers, Assistant Police Inspectors Vishwas Bhambad and Samir Kadam responded to the scene to investigate.

The minor was found standing with the pistol and was taken into custody. During questioning, he revealed that he resided in Lonikand and assisted his father in their vegetable-selling business.

He explained that he had come to Katraj to meet a friend.The investigation is being led by Assistant Police Inspector Samir Kadam.

This operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner Praveen Kumar Patil, Deputy Commissioner Smartana Patil, Assistant Commissioner Nandini Vagyani,

Senior Police Inspector Dashrath Patil, and Inspector Sharad Zine, with the efforts of a team that included Assistant Police Inspectors Samir Kadam and Vishwas Bhambad, Sub-Inspector Nilesh Mokashi, and police constables Namdev Renuse, Shailendra Sathe, Chetan Gore, Hanuman Masal, Mahesh Baravkar, Nilesh Dhamdhere, Nilesh Jamdade, Mangesh Pawar, Sachin Sarpale, Nilesh Khairmode, Dhanaji Dhotre, Sachin Gade, Satish More, Mitesh Chormole, Avdhut Jamdade, Abhinav Chaudhary, and Sagar Borge.
