Pune: In Bhosari, a 12-year-old boy lost his life after a minor, driving a three-wheeler tempo at high speed without a valid driving license, collided with the two-wheeler the boy was riding.
The accident took place around 4:30 PM on Sunday (October 20) in front of the MIDC Bhosari Police Station.
According to the police, the boy was riding as a passenger on the two-wheeler, driven by his mother, while his 7-year-old sister was also on the vehicle.
The family was returning home to Indrayani Nagar after the children finished their classes. As they approached the junction near the MIDC Bhosari Police Station, heading toward PCNT Circle, a three-wheeler tempo driven by an underage boy appeared from Sant Nagar on the service road and crashed into their vehicle.
The collision was severe, resulting in the death of the 12-year-old boy on the spot. His younger sister sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The grieving mother, who was driving the two-wheeler, filed a complaint with the police.
Further investigations revealed that the tempo belonged to Shrinivas Thorat, a resident of Rajwada, Indrayani Nagar. Thorat had allowed the minor to drive the vehicle despite being fully aware that the boy was underage and did not possess a valid driving license.
As a result, the MIDC Bhosari Police have registered a case not only against the minor but also against Thorat for his role in the incident.
Police Sub-Inspector Chittampalle has taken charge of the investigation and will be pursuing charges against both the minor driver and Thorat.
