Minor Girl Resists Sexual Assault, Dies After Poisoning by School Clerk

The suspect had gone to the home of victim girl and attempted to sexually assault her. When she resisted, he forced her to drink insecticide.

Pune: A 14-year-old girl was poisoned to death by a school clerk who tried to assault her sexually. The girl had resisted the assault attempt, after which the suspect clerk forcefully made the girl to drink insecticide. The victim succumbed to her injuries during treatment. This incident took place in Indapur city.

According to police, the suspect school clerk has been identified as Ranjit. The victim girl, a 14-year-old student, was studying in the 9th grade at the school where the suspect does clerical work.

According to the complaint filed against Ranjit, he had gone to the home of the victim girl and attempted to sexually assault her. When she resisted, the suspect Ranjit forced her to drink insecticide.

Later, the girl was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Akluj, but she lost her battle with life and passed away during treatment.

Following the incident, the accused has been arrested. The police have filed a case against the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, 2012. However, now that the girl has died during treatment, a murder charge will be filed against the accused.

Recently, in another incident of crime-against-women, a 20-year-old woman from Uran had gone missing. She used to work for a government company in Belapur. When she did not return home, her father filed a complaint with the police. Her body was eventually found near a railway station.

The prime suspect, Dawood Sheikh, was arrested from Gulbarga, Karnataka, on Tuesday. Sheikh was presented in a Mumbai court today and has been remanded to police custody for seven days.
