Pune: A minor confrontation over lift usage escalated into a violent attack involving 20-25 individuals.

The altercation at the Puneville Society in Punawale began when a security guard requested a delivery boy to use the service lift instead of the passenger lift, as per society rules.

Offended by the request, the delivery boy returned with a group of associates and launched a brutal assault on the security guard and other society staff members.

The incident took place around 11:30 AM on Saturday. Security guard Mohammad Ashraf Mohammad Shafi, who was on duty at the time, advised the delivery boy, identified as Maruti Varade, a 20-year-old working for Zepto, to use the service lift for his delivery.

Enraged by this instruction, Varade called in a group of 20-25 associates. The group then stormed the society, and two of them attacked Mohammad Ashraf with wooden sticks, striking him on the head and leaving him seriously injured.

Five to six other members of the group joined in, kicking and punching the guard. When supervisor Prabhakar Pandey attempted to intervene, he too was assaulted, as were area supervisor Gnyandev Bhogil and security guard Mehboob Shaikh, who were hit with stones and physically beaten.

The attackers showed no signs of restraint as they targeted multiple individuals in the society.

The injured staff members were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the police were alerted to the violent confrontation. The Ravet police responded promptly and have arrested seven individuals involved in the attack.

A case has been registered against Maruti Varade and others, and further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend all those involved.
