Pune: In a disturbing case, a 50-year-old school janitor has been accused of sexually harassing a minor intellectually disabled girl by showing her pornographic videos.

This incident took place around 10 AM in the passage outside the school restroom. The Nigdi police have filed charges under the POCSO Act and other relevant laws against the janitor, Narayan Kumaji Thubal.

A 38-year-old woman filed a complaint at the Nigdi police station, leading to charges against Thubal under sections 64(2)(D), (K), (M), 67, and 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, and the Protection of Civil Rights Act.

According to the police, the victim is a mentally disabled girl studying in a school in the Nigdi area. Despite knowing about her condition, the accused showed her pornographic videos and threatened to kill her while sexually abusing her.

The accused has allegedly committed these acts since 2022. On July 16th, the accused showed the victim pornographic videos in the passage near the school's restroom, threatened her, and engaged in indecent acts that caused her severe distress.

The complaint also mentions that the accused repeatedly forced her into physical relations in the restroom. Although a case has been filed under the POCSO Act, the accused has not yet been arrested. Senior Police Inspector Shatrughna Mali of Nigdi Police Station is conducting further investigations.

Recently, another harrowing case of sexual assault involving a minor girl had come to light in Hadapsar area. The victim, a 13-year-old girl, was allegedly sexually assaulted by her uncle and cousin, and her father also attempted to sexually abuse her. The Hadapsar police had registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
