Miracle Survival: Senior Citizen Lives Despite 2% Survival Rate

Pune: In a remarkable medical feat, doctors saved the life of a senior citizen who had only a 2% chance of surviving a severe heart attack that resulted in a rupture of his left ventricle.

The successful outcome was achieved through precise planning and advanced surgical techniques at Ruby Hall Clinic.

The 69-year-old patient suffered a massive heart attack, causing a rupture in the left ventricle of his heart, and severe complications due to the sudden cessation of blood supply.

The patient's survival rate in such critical conditions is typically only 2%. Due to the delicate nature of the heart muscles, traditional procedures like angioplasty or thrombolysis were not feasible, and immediate surgery was not possible.

The team of doctors conducted thorough examinations and devised a detailed treatment plan. The patient was stabilized over four days in the intensive care unit. Tests showed significant blockages in major arteries, necessitating bypass surgery. The surgery was successfully performed, repairing the ruptured section of the left ventricle.

Dr. Smruti Hindaria, the cardiac surgeon who led the procedure, commented: "When the left ventricle is ruptured, there is a 98% chance of mortality. Through meticulous medical planning, we were able to save the patient's life."

In March 2024, a physician, together with the cabin crew and several passengers, had managed to revive a lady experiencing a heart attack on an Air India Express journey from the capital to Pune. It is said that f

Flight number 15-764 was set to arrive in Pune at 6:10 am on March 17th, having left Delhi at approximately 4 am. On board, there was a medical professional and an experienced cardiac anaesthesia consultant from the Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences located in Bhubaneswar who saved the female passenger.
