Pune: As the city gears up to celebrate Ganeshotsav, the markets are buzzing with a wide range of electronic products, especially for decorative lighting. This year, USB light garlands have captured the attention of many buyers, including members of Ganesh Mandals and devotees setting up idols at home.

The demand for these modern lighting options is on the rise as people prepare to welcome Ganpati Bappa with grandeur.

The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is synonymous with vibrant decorations, and lighting plays a crucial role in enhancing the festive atmosphere. This year, the markets are flooded with colorful and attractive lighting options, both domestic and international.

The variety includes traditional garlands, electronic torans, chandeliers, and an array of LED products like curtains, flowers, and stars. The innovative USB light garlands, which can be controlled via mobile apps, have become a popular choice, with prices ranging from ₹70 to ₹800.

Amidst the festive preparations, there has been a noticeable shift in consumer preferences towards Indian-made products. With a continuing boycott of Chinese goods, there is a significant demand for locally manufactured lighting options.

Markets in Pune are now stocked with products from cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad, with about 50% to 60% of the goods being of Indian origin.

LED lighting products, in particular, are in high demand this season. Prices for these range from ₹200 to ₹700, catering to various decorative needs. Items like focus lights, lighting curtains, water lamps, and laser lights are especially sought after.

Business owners have noted a growing interest in innovative lighting solutions, including fog machines, fire lights, and fiber flowers, reflecting the evolving trends in festive decorations.
