Pune: Bhujang Khandare, the Regional Director of MSEDCL Pune, has instructed the electricity department to focus on uninterrupted power supply and the recovery of both current monthly electricity bills and outstanding dues.
Speaking at a review meeting held in Baramati on Wednesday (October 9), Khandare stressed the need to implement a six-month action plan to streamline bill collection efforts, especially considering the rise in outstanding dues.
During the meeting, Khandare pointed out that the Baramati division's dues from low-voltage consumers, which include residential, commercial, and industrial categories, have grown significantly.
The pending dues, which stood at ₹44 crore at the end of the previous financial year, have now escalated to ₹144 crore. Khandare emphasized that the recovery of this amount over the next six months is a priority, alongside the collection of 100% of current monthly bills.
He further highlighted the importance of teamwork, stating that the contribution of all employees, from field officers to senior engineers, is essential in achieving these goals. Khandare also emphasized the need to improve the department's performance continually.
The meeting also touched upon several government-backed initiatives being run through MSEDCL, including the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Yojana, Saur Krishi Pump Yojana, and the Mukhyamantri Saur Krishi Vahini Yojana.
Khandare urged officials to expedite the implementation of these schemes, especially the 'Mukhyamantri Saur Krishi Vahini Yojana 2.0', which aims to provide daytime electricity for agricultural activities.
Moreover, Khandare instructed the team to ensure timely electricity connections and prompt resolution of consumer complaints as per the guidelines set by the Electricity Regulatory Commission.
Key officials present at the meeting included Chief Engineer Ankush Nale, Superintendent Engineers Deepak Lahange (Baramati), Balasaheb Halnor (Satara), Sunil Mane (Solapur), and Assistant General Managers Kirti Bhosale and Dhairyashil Gaikwad.
