Pune: A fatal accident took place in the early hours of Saturday on Nagar Road near the Lonikand area when a speeding car crashed into a two-wheeler, claiming the life of a college student riding as a passenger. The rider of the bike was injured and is currently receiving medical treatment.

The victim, Sudhanshu Raj (22), was a resident of Unite PG Hostel in Majestic City, Wagholi.

A case has been registered by his friend, Vaibhav Randhir Kumar (22), who was also riding the bike and survived the accident. Both Vaibhav and Sudhanshu were pursuing their studies at a local college in Wagholi.

According to police reports, the accident occurred at approximately 2:15 AM. On Saturday (September 7) night, the two friends, along with a group of others, had gone to Viman Nagar to watch a late-night movie.

After the film, they were riding back to Wagholi on Vaibhav’s two-wheeler, intending to have dinner before returning to their hostel.

The incident happened when Vaibhav was making a turn near a furniture store in the Gade Vasti area. A speeding car struck the bike with such force that Vaibhav was thrown off and survived, but Sudhanshu suffered severe injuries. Despite receiving immediate medical attention, Sudhanshu tragically died during treatment.

Vaibhav is currently being treated at a private hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. Police have lodged a complaint against the car driver, and Assistant Police Inspector Ghorpade is leading the investigation.
