11 die in a road accident at Pune-Bengaluru Highway in Dharwad

Ten women passengers and a driver of the tempo died in the accident that took place on Friday at Pune-Bengaluru Highway in Dharwad

Dharwad: In what came as a heart wrenching news on Friday morning as at least 11 people were killed in a road accident in Dharwad, Karnataka. The accident took place at the stretch of of Hubballi-Dharwad bypass which is stretching between Pune-Bengaluru Highway.

The accident took place when a tempo traveller and a cleaner were involved in a head on collision. 10 women and driver of the tipper died on the spot. The women who hailed from Davangere were passing through Dharwad to visit Goa.

Five others who were critically injured were shifted to Hubli's KIMS hospital. Two people also suffered minor injuries. District Superintendent of Police Krishna Kant, senior police officials rushed to the spot and are supervising the relief action. It is being said that the spot is accident zone as the area has witnessed many accidents in past few months. A case has been lodged in Dharwad rural police station.
