New Delhi: We all now know that there are multiple cybercrimes taking place everyday. Many people fall prey to the online scam but now what came as a shocker where daughter of Chief Minister lost some amount in online fraud.

Harshita Kejriwal, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's daughter was fallen prey to a QR code scam, allegedly losing Rs 34,000 to a fraudster while trying to sell a second-hand sofa set on a reputed web portal.

WHAT HAPPENED EXACTLY

The online fraudster loomed Harshita on the buying-selling website, showing keen interest in acquiring a second-hand sofa set she had uploaded for sale.

A deal was struck after the conman posing as a buyer was ready to buy the sofa set. In order to confirm her bank account details, the fraudster sent some amount to her account. When she received the amount, the fraudster sent a QR code and requested her to scan it to receive the remaining amount. The unwary victim scanned the code and a sum of Rs 20,000 got debited from her account.

When she questioned the user about it, he said it took place by mistake as it was a wrong QR code. He then sent another code and asked her to follow the same process for receiving the money. However, when she scanned the code, she lost another Rs 14,000.

When realised she has been duped of Rs 37,000, Harshita rushed to the Civil Lines police station and lodged a complaint. The police are investigating the probing the matter.
