New Delhi: Just three days after he was transferred due to some unpardonable gaps in safeguarding security outside Reliance Industries’ Head, Mukesh Ambani's house, former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh on Saturday dropped a letter accusing Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh of, extortion and interference in police investigations.
The buzzing topic in Maharashtra’s politics took the centre stage at Lok Sabha on Monday. A big controversy broke out over ousted Mumbai Police Chief Param Bir Singh alleged that Home Minister Anil Deshmukh was running an 'extortion racket.
BJP MP Rakesh Singh started with the debate in Lok Sabha stating, “It is the first of a kind of the country where the Chief Minister of Maharashtra conducts a press conference in support of the cop who was given a target of Rs 100 crore, he says that he is the best cop in the country. How does this happen?”
Also, BJP MP from Pune Girish Bapat said that the law and order situation in the state has gone down and the present situation calls for the enforcement of the President's rule in Maharashtra. Independent MP Navneet Ravi Rana in Lok Sabha on Monday said, “On what basis was a man suspended for 16 years and jailed, was asked to join the service? When there was BJP in the state, Uddhav Thackeray himself had called up the then CM Devendra Fadnavis for reinstating Sachin Waze, Fadnavis had refused that time. When Thackeray led MVA came in, they reinstated him.”
In his letter written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday, Param Bir Singh has alleged that Anil Deshmukh ordered suspended Mumbai cop Sachin Vaze to collect Rs 100 crore every month for him. While refusing the same, Anil Deshmukh rubbished these charges and said this is his attempt to save himself from legal action for his lapses.
Singh in the letter also alleged that from the starting day, Anil Deshmukh wanted that a case of abetment of suicide in the Mohan Delkar case be registered in Mumbai. He stated that while the suicide had taken place in Mumbai, all the alleged acts of abetment had taken place in Dadra and Nagar Haveli and thus the abetment of suicide, if any, was preferably required to be investigated by the police of the Union territory.
