Pune: Guided by Principal District Judge Mahendra Mahajan, Pune district has achieved the highest number of resolved cases in the state during the National Lok Adalat held on Saturday, clearing 1,00,517 cases, which included 33,695 pending cases and 66,822 pre-litigation cases.

In this Lok Adalat, significant categories of resolved cases included 2,780 bank loan recoveries, 25,947 compromise-eligible criminal cases, 101 electricity bill cases, 100 labor disputes, 48 land acquisition cases, 131 motor accident claims, 113 matrimonial disputes, 3,048 Negotiable Instruments Act cases, 875 other civil cases, 7,537 revenue cases, 54,078 water tax cases, and 5,759 other cases.

Out of the 2,80,968 cases set for compromise, 1,00,517 were resolved, recovering a settlement amount of ₹419.24 crore. Among 1,82,115 pre-litigation pending cases, 66,822 were resolved, with ₹90.69 crore recovered in settlement fees.

Of the 3,30,588 pending cases, 98,853 were heard, resolving 33,695 cases and recovering ₹328.33 crore in settlement fees. This reinforces Pune district’s tradition of leading in case resolution during the National Lok Adalat.

The successful event saw excellent cooperation from district court officials, various department officers, and citizens, as reported by Sonal Patil, Secretary of the Legal Services Authority and Senior Civil Judge.

Through Lok Adalat, justice is obtained promptly, saving both time and money. The decisions provide satisfaction to both parties involved. The court fee is refunded for resolved cases.

Since the decisions are made by mutual consent, it prevents the escalation of animosity and bitterness between parties. Therefore, Lok Adalat receives a positive response.
