National Tourism Short Film Festival to Celebrate World Tourism Day

Dr. Vishwas Kelkar will be presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his remarkable contributions to the field.

Pune: In celebration of World Tourism Day, the Directorate of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra, in collaboration with the Parbhanna Foundation, is set to host the third edition of the National Tourism Short Film Festival. 

The festival will take place on Friday, September 27, 2024, at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Centre, Ghole Road, Pune. 

The event will feature an impressive lineup of esteemed guests, including veteran actor Madhav Abhyankar, Akhil Bharatiya Chitrapat Mahamandal President Meghraj Rajebhosale, Savitribai Phule Pune University’s Prof. Dr. Madhavi Reddy, and Deputy Director of the Directorate of Tourism Shama Pawar.

The festival will unfold in four distinct segments, offering a blend of cultural programs, short film screenings, insightful panel discussions, and a grand award ceremony. 

A highly anticipated panel discussion on 'Tourism, Youth, and Peace' will include a diverse group of experts: Mahesh Thakur, Director of the Karve Institute of Social Services, Adhik Kadam from the Borderless World Foundation, budget traveler Pragnesh Molak, tourism specialist Rutuja Achalare, and Prabuddha International founder Siddharth Ahivale.

Dr. Vishwas Kelkar, a notable figure in the tourism industry, will be presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his remarkable contributions to the field. Additionally, Prasad Gawade, popularly known as 'Konkani Ranmanus,' will receive the 'Best Responsible Tourism Award 2024.' 

The Anand Krishi Tourism Center, managed by Anand Jadhav, will be honored with the 'Best Agri-Tourism Award.'

Other notable recognitions, including awards for the Best Short Film and Best V-Log, will also be announced at the ceremony, according to festival head Ganesh Chappalwar during a press briefing.
