Pune: In light of upcoming Assembly elections, the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) has made temporary changes within its Pune city organization.

With Prashant Jagtap, the current Pune city president, contesting in the Hadapsar Assembly constituency, Ankush Kakade has been appointed as the acting city president to manage the party's operations in his stead.

Simultaneously, Vishal Tambe has taken on the role of Chief City Coordinator.

These organizational adjustments were finalized on Sunday at a coordination committee meeting held at the NCP (SP) Bhavan, with discussions focused on streamlining the party’s strategy during the election period.

Prominent attendees included former MP Vandana Chavan, former MLA Jaydev Gaikwad, Ravindra Malvadkar, Prakash Mhaske, Bapusaheb Pathare, and Vishal Tambe.

This interim reshuffle reflects the party’s focus on maintaining efficient coordination across Pune city as candidates and members prepare for the elections.

Kakade’s appointment as acting city president and Tambe’s coordination responsibilities are expected to bolster organizational preparedness in the lead-up to voting.

Prashant Japtap faces strong challenge from Ajit Pawar-led NCP candidate Chetan Tupe. Shiv Sena UBT aspirant Mahadev Babar was hoping to secure the Hadapsar assembly seat within the Maha Vikas Aaghadi. However, NCP SP nominated Prashant Jagtap and this led to rebellion of Mahadev Babar.

Maharashtra Navnirma Sena has fielded Sainath Babar from Hadapsar constituency. Sainath Babar is going to file his nomination papers on October 28.
