Pune: In a dramatic turn of events during the preparations for the upcoming assembly elections, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) workers halted the vehicle of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Tuesday, October 8, demanding that he declare his candidacy.

As Ajit Pawar was leaving a function in Malegaon and heading towards Baramati, a significant number of NCP workers blocked his convoy near the Karbhari Circle.

The workers passionately insisted that Ajit Pawar announce his candidacy on the spot. Despite his efforts to calm the crowd and explain his position, the workers remained resolute and continued to chant slogans in support of his candidacy, momentarily silencing him.

In response to the escalating situation, Ajit Pawar stepped out of his vehicle to address the gathering, assuring the workers that the candidate they envisioned would indeed be chosen.

"You are all convinced that I should be the candidate, and I assure you that the one you have in mind will represent the NCP in the assembly elections," he stated.

The insistence from the workers, particularly those from the western region, made it clear that they wanted an immediate declaration of his candidacy. Once the crowd was reassured that Ajit Pawar would be their candidate, they allowed him to proceed with his agenda.

After the incident, Ajit Pawar continued on to his next program, while police and security personnel were seen actively managing the situation.

Prior to the arrival of Ajit Pawar’s convoy, NCP workers had been vocally demanding that he officially announce his candidacy at the Karbhari Circle junction.
