Pune: The long wait for the NEET-PG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate) exam date is over, with the test now scheduled for August 11.

Previously set for June 23, the exam was postponed as a precaution following issues with the NEET-UG exam results. With the new date announced, the focus now shifts to ensuring the exam proceeds smoothly.

Given past experiences, there is some anxiety among students, who hope that this time, the necessary precautions will be in place for a trouble-free exam.

This year, over 200,000 students have registered for around 70,000 postgraduate medical seats across the country.

The Central Ministry of Health initially scheduled the NEET-PG exam for June 23. However, it was canceled the day before the exam without specific reasons, causing nationwide confusion and putting the future of millions of students at stake. The decision drew widespread criticism, with opposition parties demanding a parliamentary discussion on the issues surrounding NEET.

Following the postponement, multiple meetings were held involving the Central Ministry of Health, NBEMS, National Medical Commission (NMC), cyber cell officials, and technical partners TCS to discuss secure exam conduct. The ministry decided to conduct a thorough assessment of their preparedness for the exam.

Subsequently, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) announced the revised schedule. The NEET-PG exam will now take place on August 11 in two sessions. Further details regarding the exam will be available on the official website, natboard.edu.in.
