Pune: In a shocking incident that unfolded in the Dhankawadi area of Pune, two men were brutally assaulted by a group of 9 to 10 individuals, including an uncle-nephew duo, in what appears to be an attempted murder.

An old feud escalated into this violent attack on Sunday (September 1) night at around 8:30 PM, near the Kalubai Temple, close to the Chinese Center and Panchvati Society gate.

The victims, identified as Sameer Anant Khopte (31) and Sameer Kamble (30), sustained serious injuries in the attack. According to the police, the assailants, motivated by a past dispute, attacked the victims with a sickle, aiming to kill them.

The confrontation started with kicks and punches before escalating to the use of the weapon.

The group of attackers arrived on motorcycles, targeting the victims who were chatting with friends in the area. The perpetrators reportedly declared their intent to not let the victims escape alive before launching the brutal assault.

Both victims were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment for their injuries.

Following the incident, a complaint was filed by Sameer Khapte at the Sahakarnagar Police Station. Acting swiftly, the Sahakarnagar police launched an investigation and arrested nine individuals overnight.

A case of attempted murder has been registered against all the accused, and further investigations are underway under the supervision of Assistant Police Inspector Sagar Patil.
