Pune: Union Minister for Road Transport, Nitin Gadkari, has shared a vision of a future where drones will be an integral part of daily life, even at cultural venues like Pune's Bal Gandharva Rangmandir.

Speaking at an event celebrating the birth anniversary of renowned journalist Dr. Nanasaheb Parulekar, Gadkari laid out an ambitious plan that included the use of advanced drones for transporting people and essential goods.

During his speech, Gadkari explained that technological advancements in drone development are accelerating. He highlighted a recent achievement where a drone capable of carrying a 200-kilogram payload has been launched.

"I was involved in launching this drone," Gadkari said, "and I advised the company to deploy these drones in regions like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Kashmir,

where they can transport apples from mountain villages to the plains and deliver medicines and important supplies to remote areas. This project has already seen success in those regions."

Gadkari then drew a picture of a not-so-distant future where drones would be used for transportation even in urban settings. He envisioned a time when drones would land on the roof of Bal Gandharva Rangmandir, bringing guests directly to the venue to deliver speeches.

"The day when drones fly from the airport and land at Balgandharva roof for direct speeches is not far away," he stated, emphasizing the significance of drone technology.

The minister underscored that such technological advancements are on the horizon and will play an essential role in everyday life, from logistics to public events.
