Notorious Criminal Arrested for Luring and Robbing Rickshaw Driver in Katraj

The incident occurred on July 22, 2024, when rickshaw driver Rajeshkumar Parshuram Saroj (32), a resident of Mangalwar Peth.

Pune: Bharati Vidyapeeth Police have arrested a notorious criminal involved in multiple robbery cases. The accused, Rahul Sanjay Kshirsagar (22), a resident of Sundarnagar, Mangdewadi, Katraj, was apprehended for robbing a rickshaw driver by posing as a passenger and luring him to a secluded area.

The incident occurred on July 22, 2024, when rickshaw driver Rajeshkumar Parshuram Saroj (32), a resident of Mangalwar Peth, was waiting for passengers in the early hours of the morning. Around 6:30 AM, two men pretending to be passengers boarded his rickshaw.

They directed Saroj to drive towards the hills near Sundarnagar in Katraj, where they executed their plan by robbing him of his rickshaw, mobile phone, and cash amounting to Rs. 54,800.

Following Saroj's complaint, an investigation was launched by the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Officers Mitesh Chormole, Abhinay Chaudhary, Sagar Borge, and Avdhut Jamdade received reliable information linking the crime to Rahul Kshirsagar, who was already on police records for previous offenses. The officers tracked Kshirsagar to Katraj Lake, where he was arrested.

During interrogation, Kshirsagar not only confessed to the July 22 robbery but also revealed his involvement in two additional cases registered at Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station and one at Kondhwa Police Station.

His arrest has brought relief to the local community, which had been troubled by similar incidents in the past.

The operation was conducted under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner of Police Pravinkumar Patil, and Deputy Commissioner of Police Smartana Patil. Senior Police Inspector Dashrath Patil of Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station, along with Crime Inspector Sharad Zine and Assistant Police Inspector Sameer Kadam, oversaw the investigation. The swift action and teamwork of officers, including Mitesh Chormole, Avdhut Jamdade, Sagar Borge, and Abhinay Chaudhary, were crucial in bringing the accused to justice.
