Pune: The Crime Branch Unit 1 of Pimpri Chinchwad Police has apprehended two individuals involved in stealing six high-end motorcycles, including two Bullets, a Pulsar, a Yamaha, a Splendor, and a Hero Deluxe, with a total value of ₹5 lakh. The thieves were responsible for multiple thefts in areas like Moshi, Bhosari, Chakan, Chinchwad, Shirdi, and Solapur.
The two arrested suspects have been identified as Prasad Bharat Pandav (23), a resident of Moshi, and his accomplice Sachin Ashok Sudam (24), who hails from Vishwakarma Colony, Verul in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district.
Pandav, a notorious vehicle thief, has a history of stealing vehicles, particularly motorcycles, and was on the radar of the authorities.
The police had received intelligence on September 16 from their network of informants that the suspects were planning to sell stolen motorcycles in the vicinity of the fire station in Moshi.
Acting swiftly, two teams from Crime Branch Unit 1 of Pimpri Chinchwad Police were deployed to the location, setting up a surveillance operation.
As per the information, the two suspects were spotted moving around suspiciously on motorcycles. When the police attempted to stop them, the suspects tried to flee. However, after a brief chase, they were apprehended.
Upon investigation, the Pulsar motorcycle they were riding was discovered to have been stolen from Moshi in December 2022. Further interrogation revealed that the duo had stolen six motorcycles from various locations, including Bhosari, Chakan, and Chinchwad.
The operation was carried out under the leadership of Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey, with support from Joint Commissioner of Police Shashikant Mahavarkar,
Additional Police Commissioner Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Doifode, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Vishal Hire.
The team involved in the successful arrest included Inspector Jitendra Kadam, Sub-Inspector Shivaji Kanade, and constables Sachin More, Amit Khanvilkar, Ganesh Mahadik, Pramod Garje, and Swapnil Mahale.
