Pune: At a recent Dahi Handi celebration in Balewadi-Hinjawadi, Olympic bronze medalist shooter Swapnil Kusale expressed his desire to see the Hindu culture and nation flourish.

Speaking to the media at the event organized by Amol Balwadkar, Kusale emphasized the need for promoting Hindu culture and the importance of encouraging younger generations.

Participating in the Dahi Handi festival for the first time, Kusale shared his thoughts on the significance of preserving Hindu traditions.

He stated, "We must preserve our Hindu culture. We all chant 'Jai Shri Ram' and raise slogans, and these should become more widespread. The expansion of Hindu culture is crucial, and it is vital to inspire young children to ensure that our Hindu nation grows even stronger."

Kusale also highlighted the physical challenges and skills involved in traditional games like Dahi Handi, where participants form human pyramids to break a hanging pot.

"Having a fit physique is important for such games. Climbing high to break the pot requires dedication and effort. Young people should focus on maintaining a healthy diet by avoiding outside food and opting for homemade, nutritious meals," he added.

At the event, Kusale was honored by the community and received a monetary award of five lakh rupees for his achievements and contributions.

In recognition of his achievement, Kusale’s name is engraved on the revered sports pillar at the historic Bhavani Mandap in Kolhapur.

This pillar, first unveiled in 1960 by Maharaja Sir Yadavindra Singh of Patiala, also bears the name of Olympic medalist Khashaba Jadhav, making Swapnil’s achievement particularly significant after more than seven decades.
