Pune: The Oncology Group Pune is set to host its second annual conference on August 31 and September 1, 2024, at the Hyatt Regency, Pune.
This year's theme, "Navigating Controversies: Unravelling Dilemmas in GEJ & Colorectal Cancer," aims to address complex issues and controversies surrounding Gastroesophageal Junction (GEJ) and colorectal cancer.
The event was announced by Dr. Sanjay Deshmukh, Director of Surgical Oncology at Ruby Hall Clinic and founder president of The Oncology Group Pune, alongside Dr. Girish Phadke, Consultant Oncologist at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital and Research Centre and organizing chairperson, and Dr. Sujai Hegde, Director of the Center for AI Oncology at Ruby Hall Clinic, who serves as the organizing secretary.
Dr. Girish Phadke, the conference chairperson, highlighted that the two-day event will feature scientific sessions, workshops, paper presentations, and expert lectures aimed at exploring the challenging scenarios and controversies in the treatment of GEJ and colorectal cancer.
"The conference theme reflects the intricate challenges we encounter in oncology practice," stated Dr. Sanjay Deshmukh. "We will have knowledge-sharing sessions such as 'How I Manage My Complications,' which focuses on handling complex surgical procedures, and 'The Dream MDT,' where difficult cases will be thoroughly discussed."
Dr. Sujay Hegde, the organizing secretary, added that the conference will confront these dilemmas directly, fostering rigorous discussions, sharing invaluable insights, and challenging existing preconceptions in the field.
