Pune: In celebration of Ashadhi Ekadashi, free medical services will be provided to participants of the Sant Tukaram Maharaj Sansthan's Palkhi procession to Pandharpur.

The Penex Foundation will be conducting the "Palkhi Care" initiative from June 28 to July 16, as millions of Vitthal devotees walk from Dehu to Pandharpur.

Medical services will be available at Penex Foundation clinics located along the Palkhi route, including at Deccan, Shaniwar Peth, and Pune Station. This initiative aims to make medical care accessible to the Warkaris, ensuring their health is maintained during the pilgrimage.

The services will include treatments and medications for various pains, including those affecting the feet, knees, back, and heels, along with physiotherapy. Given the physical strain of walking for several days, these medical services are crucial for the Warkaris.

Dr. Kashinath Bangar, founder of the Penex Foundation, emphasized the importance of this initiative, especially for Warkaris from rural areas who may not have regular access to quality healthcare.

Many Warkaris walk alongside the Palkhi and endure significant physical stress. The goal of Penex Foundation is to support their journey without compromising their health by providing free and appropriate medical services.

"We are thrilled to be part of this significant Palkhi procession and to have the opportunity to serve those in need. Our goal with the 'Palkhi Care' initiative is to ensure that Warkaris have a safe and healthy journey by providing immediate medical assistance," said Dr. Kashinath Bangar.
