Pune: In a shocking incident on Friday (October 25) evening, a 75-year-old pan stall owner was attacked with a sharp weapon after refusing to cover a rickshaw fare demanded by three individuals.

The accused, led by a man with a criminal record, allegedly injured the elderly man and threatened him with further harm.

The Parvati Police have now filed charges against the three suspects, including Somnath alias Pintu Tanaji Kamble, a repeat offender with numerous past criminal cases, his son Yash Kamble, and his wife Pooja Kamble.

The incident occurred at around 6:30 pm near the pan stall owned by the complainant, Dada Kondiba Bhalerao, at Savitribai Phule Colony on Sinhagad Road.

According to police reports, Kamble arrived at the stall in a rickshaw and demanded money from Bhalerao to cover the fare.

When the elderly stall owner declined, Kamble allegedly used a sharp weapon to strike him, resulting in a severe injury to his left ear. Kamble’s son and wife reportedly joined him in verbally abusing and threatening the complainant.

Police Sub-Inspector Patil stated that the investigation is underway and legal actions are being taken against the accused, with Kamble’s prior record adding weight to the case.

Recently,  four individuals attempted to kill a rickshaw driver by assaulting him with machetes following a heated argument over rickshaw parking at Swargate bus stand the day before. The dispute arose over the parking of their rickshaws outside the Swargate ST bus stand.
