Patient Abandoned by Sassoon Doctors Was Victim of Hit-And-Run Accident

Pune: Nilesh Hinavati (32) from Madhya Pradesh, the patient who was allegedly abandoned by doctors from Sassoon Hospital, was a victim of a hit-and-run accident at Dange Chowk.

Hinavati had an accident in the Dange Chowk area on June 16, where a bus wheel ran over his legs, rendering both of them non-functional. He was brought to Sassoon in an ambulance provided by the 108 emergency medical service. His life was saved through surgery performed on the same day.

A second surgery was performed on June 27. While his condition was improving, the patient was requesting to be discharged, according to the hospital administration.

Hinavati was undergoing treatment in the orthopedic department at Sassoon. It has been revealed that he was left in front of Yerawada Mental Hospital at 3 AM on July 22.

Resident doctor Aadi Kumar, with the help of an employee, allegedly left the patient there. Taking prompt action, the hospital administration has suspended Dr. Kumar.

Sassoon General Hospital is under scrutiny after patient, Nilesh Hinavati, was allegedly left at a deserted location by a resident doctor.

The hospital administration has suspended resident doctor Aadi Kumar following the incident. A committee has been formed to investigate the matter, raising concerns about patient care at the hospital.

For this investigation, hospital dean Dr. Eknath Pawar has formed a committee. This committee will record statements from the patient, the complainant, the rickshaw driver, and Dr. Kumar.

Additionally, CCTV footage from the hospital will be examined. The patient has now been re-admitted to the hospital for treatment. The patient is unable to walk on both legs, and attempts are being made to contact his relatives.

The hospital administration has stated that the social service department is also being involved in this effort.
