PCMC Collects ₹505 Crore in First Half of FY 2024-25, Focuses on Unpaid Dues

Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s (PCMC) Property Tax Assessment and Collection Department has successfully collected ₹505 crore in taxes in the first six months of the 2024-25 financial year.

A total of 390,000 property owners have paid their taxes during this period, although the overall tax collection has decreased compared to the previous year's figures for the same period.

Pimpri-Chinchwad city is home to 632,000 registered properties, ranging from residential to industrial, non-residential, mixed-use, and vacant land.

The Municipal Corporation is tasked with collecting taxes from these property owners to support its operational and developmental goals.

In the previous year, the department employed a series of initiatives, including public awareness campaigns, seizure operations, notices, and water disconnections, which contributed to a record-breaking collection of ₹580 crore in the first half of FY 2023-24.

This year, in addition to those measures, bills were delivered to homes through women’s self-help groups, aiming to ease the payment process.

However, despite these efforts, this year's collection in the first half of FY 2024-25 fell short of the previous year’s figures. Of the total 632,000 registered properties, only 390,030 property owners have paid their dues, contributing a total of ₹505.09 crore to the PCMC’s coffers.

A significant portion of this collection—₹353.13 crore—was made through online payments, demonstrating the growing adoption of digital payment methods.

Other contributions included ₹13.25 crore through various government schemes, ₹38.96 crore in cash, ₹32.39 crore via cheques, ₹20.11 crore through RTGS, and ₹1.89 crore through demand drafts.

In terms of property type, 343,056 residential property owners have fulfilled their tax obligations, along with 32,338 non-residential, 8,676 mixed-use, 2,981 industrial, and 2,975 vacant landowners.

These numbers indicate that over 60% of property owners have already paid their taxes within the first six months of the financial year.

Looking ahead, the PCMC plans to focus on recovering unpaid taxes, with a concerted effort to achieve 100% recovery of both overdue and current taxes.

“We are committed to recovering all outstanding and current dues, and efforts are being intensified to meet this goal,” said Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale.
