Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh has rejected the report from Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) Hospital Dean which exonerated the doctors who had issued 7 per cent disability certificate to IAS Puja Khedkar for her UPSC selection.

Singh has ordered a re-investigation into this matter, suspecting that trainee doctors at YCM had been involved in the alleged scam in issuing disability certificate to Puja Khedkar.

The investigation team led by YCM Dean Rajendra Wable had requested clarifications from the physiotherapy and orthopedic specialists from YCM hospital. These specialists confirmed that the certificate was issued in compliance with central government regulations.

Wable further reported that no fraud was detected and clarified that verifying the ration card, used by Khedkar as an identification document, was not the hospital's responsibility. He has thus dismissed the allegations against the YCM hospital.

Address of the company Thermoverita Private Limited in Talwade, belonging to Khedkar family, was used as an address proof while applying for disability certificate from YCM.

The company now faces auction due to unpaid taxes amounting to INR 277,000. The company has 11 days to clear the dues, failing which the Municipal Corporation will proceed with the auction.

Puja Khedkar is embroiled in various controversies. Thermoverita Private Limited, registered under her mother Manorama Khedkar's name, paid commercial taxes regularly from 2009 to April 2022 but has since defaulted.

The Municipal Corporation issued a pre-seizure notice in March and seized the property on July 19. The Khedkar family has 11 days to pay the outstanding amount to avoid the auction of their company.
