Pune: In a major crackdown on unauthorized structures, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) conducted a demolition drive in the Anandvan Society area of Thergaon.

The PCMC’s G Zonal Office led the operation, which targeted three unauthorized RCC (Reinforced Cement Concrete) constructions covering an area of approximately 1218 square meters.

The buildings had been constructed without the necessary permissions, prompting swift action from the civic authorities.

The demolition was carried out under the orders of Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh, with additional supervision from Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil and G Zonal Officer Kishor Nanavare.

A team of officials and law enforcement, including Assistant Engineer S.K. Ahire and beat inspectors Saurabh Shirsath, Mitush Sawant, Kiran Pawar, and Vinod Bajbalkar, participated in the operation. Encroachment Inspector Manish Jagtap also played a key role in overseeing the proceedings.

To ensure the demolition went smoothly, a large contingent of 15 personnel from the Maharashtra Security Force, three police sub-inspectors, 18 police officers, and five laborers provided support. Heavy machinery, such as a JCB breaker, hammer, and tractor breaker, was used to bring down the unauthorized structures.

This demolition is part of the PCMC’s ongoing efforts to crack down on illegal construction activities within its jurisdiction, maintaining the rule of law and urban planning standards.

PCMC had recently blacklisted 11 contractors for one year after they were found to have carried out substandard work on road repairs and paving block installations.
