Pune: In a bid to encourage eco-friendly celebrations of Ganeshotsav, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), in collaboration with Smart City and PCMC Smart Sarathi, has launched an online competition for household Ganeshotsav decorations.

This initiative aims to promote sustainable practices during the festival, urging citizens to use eco-friendly materials for their idols and decorations.

To participate, residents can visit the link https://fxurl.co/aUhs7 to upload photos of their eco-friendly household Ganesh idols and decorations, along with a video of the idol's immersion.

The submissions must be original, unaltered, and the video should be no longer than one minute. Expert judges will evaluate the entries, and three winners from each regional office will be chosen, culminating in 24 winners who will receive prizes ranging from ₹8,000 to ₹15,000.

The competition also seeks to involve social media influencers in spreading awareness, with those making significant contributions being honored by the organizers. The first prize winner will receive ₹15,000, the second prize ₹12,000, and the third prize ₹8,000.

Key rules for the competition include:

  • The Ganesh idol must be crafted from clay or other environmentally friendly materials.

  • Decorations should be made using sustainable materials.

  • The immersion process must be eco-friendly, with a video of the process submitted through the specified link.

  • Participants can join by either downloading the PCMC Smart Sarathi mobile app or by uploading their photos and videos directly via the competition link.
