PICT Conducts Spot Round Admissions with Only 30-Minute Window

Pune Institute of Computer Technology (PICT) has come under scrutiny for allocating only a 30-minute window for student reporting during its spot round admissions for PIO, NRI, FN, and CIWG quotas on September 13.

The short reporting period, from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM, has raised concerns about the transparency and fairness of the admission process.

According to PICT’s circular, issued on the morning of the spot round, students were expected to report within this narrow timeframe, with the actual admission process scheduled from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Critics, including Yuva Sena Assistant Secretary Kalpesh Yadav, have raised questions about the intentions behind such a limited reporting window, alleging that it could indicate potential financial misconduct.

This comes in the wake of a prior notice from the State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell and the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), warning PICT that any admissions conducted outside of the established norms would be canceled. Despite this, PICT proceeded with the spot round, allegedly disregarding the notice.

Yadav took to social media to highlight the issue, calling for the CET Cell to cancel all irregular admissions and appoint an administrator to ensure adherence to proper procedures.

According to Yadav, the decision to provide only 30 minutes for student reporting highlights the possibility of financial irregularities. He called for an administrator to be appointed by the CET Cell and DTE to oversee PICT’s admission process.

He also urged the authorities to cancel all irregular admissions to ensure that the institution complies with standard regulations.
