Pune: Sangvi police have arrested the intoxicated driver, who collided with a motorcycle while driving his car at high speed in Pimple-Gurav on Wednesday (August 7) afternoon. The driver had fled the spot after dragging two individuals riding the motorcycle.

Police have identified the car driver suspect as Dattu Rambhau Lokhande, (39), a resident of Pimple Gurav. The injured persons were identified as Sharad Kisan Survase and Mantesh Lingappa Chiganur. Both had sustained serious injured in the accident and were admitted to a hospital for treatment after the accident.

According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the car, who appeared to be intoxicated, struck the two-wheeler from behind, causing the rider to get trapped under the front wheel of the vehicle.

Despite this, the driver continued to drag the injured rider along the road for some distance before fleeing the scene.

Following the accident, the police promptly detained the driver. While the process of filing a case was underway, the relatives of the injured arrived and informed the police that they wanted to settle the matter privately.

As a result, the police did not file a case and released Lokhande. However, on Thursday (August 8), Sharad Survase came forward to file a complaint, and a case was registered against Lokhande.

By that time, Lokhande had absconded. On Friday (August 9) night, the police apprehended him. Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Bansode stated that legal action was taken after serving him a notice.
