Pimpri-Chinchwad: 2570 AI CCTV Surveillance Cameras Go Live

Pune: A network of 2,570 CCTV cameras have gone live in Pimpri-Chinchwad area of Pune.

Installed at key junctions, high incident areas and areas of high moving population, the cameras form city’s surveillance network. Powered by artificial intelligence, the network is designed to help in law enforcement and citizen assistance.

Implemented by Volksara Techno Solutions for the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), the surveillance network will be monitored and controlled by the Volksara team at the Nigdi located PCMC’s Integrated Command & Control Center (ICCC).

The cameras network cover 606 city locations, including Sant Nagar Chowk - Spine Road, Vasudev Balwant Phadke Chowk Chinchwad Station, Can Bay Chowk, Indrayni Nagar Corner Bhosari, Khandoba Mall Chowk, Tilak Chowk Nigadi, Savitribai Phule Udyan among others, STP, SPS, PCMC ward offices, BRTS, hospitals, schools etc.

The Fix box cameras, ANPR, RLVD cameras, PTZ (360-degree view) camera systems work 24x7 capturing a large area around each camera. Volksara’s Advanced Analytics system at the ICCC further assesses footage and helps city’s law enforcement agencies in ensuring swift response to incidents.

Since the pilot started, the system has already processed 310 incidents (accidents and major and minor assaults) for city police departments, leading to quick resolutions of more than 30 plus cases. In addition to that, the traffic police team is generating a monthly average of 6000-7000 E-challans for traffic rule violations.
