Pimpri-Chinchwad Appoints Ten New Talathis to Expedite Services

Neelam Karale

Pimpri-Chinchwad city administration has announced the appointment of ten new talathis, a move aimed at streamlining the processing of various certificates for residents.

Previously, only eight talathis managed the workload at the sub-district office, leading to delays and complaints from citizens seeking essential documents such as income and residency certificates.

Residents have long expressed frustration over the sluggish pace of service, often queuing at the talathi office for hours. The limited number of talathis meant that they were often overburdened, with one officer handling responsibilities from multiple offices, resulting in unavailability for extended periods.

The Pimpri-Chinchwad upper tehsil office regularly reported the vacancies of talathi positions but faced challenges in recruitment due to various factors, including elections and administrative changes.

Recently, the state government announced the recruitment of 8,000 talathis, prompting citizens to question when the new appointments would alleviate their service delays.

In the four key sub-offices of Chinchwad, Nigdi, Dehu, Bhosari, and Moshi, the shortage of talathis had a significant impact on service delivery, particularly in high-population areas like Chinchwad and Bhosari.

The Dehu talathi office had to close several times due to a lack of personnel, while other offices like Akurdi and Chikhali often operated on reduced hours.

With the recent appointments, there are now 31 talathi offices under the Pimpri-Chinchwad upper tehsil office, up from just eight previously. Newly appointed officials have been assigned to areas including Pimple Gurav, Pimple Saudagar, Kinhai, Chincholi, Boradewadi, Talwade, Bhosari, Nirgunwadi, Chovisawadi, and Wadmukhwadi.

Residents can now expect quicker processing of their requests as new talathis take their posts. Tehsildar Jayaraj Deshmukh confirmed that the board officers are closely monitoring the situation to ensure improved services for the citizens.
