Pune: Panic struck three hospitals in Pimpri—located in Nigdi, Bhosari, and Chinchwad—after receiving an email claiming that bombs had been planted on their premises.

Hospital managements swiftly alerted the police, who deployed a bomb detection and disposal squad to investigate the potential threat.

The alarm was first raised when a private hospital in Nigdi's Bhel Chowk received the threatening email. The hospital immediately informed the Nigdi police, who responded quickly, understanding the seriousness of the situation.

The bomb squad conducted a thorough sweep of the hospital grounds, but no suspicious objects were found.

As the search was underway, it was revealed that similar emails had been sent to hospitals in Bhosari and Chinchwad. Although the emails are suspected to be a hoax, the police did not take any chances, extending their search to these additional locations.

By late evening, investigations were still in progress to identify the sender and verify the authenticity of the threats.

On Saturday (August 17), a bomb threat email was sent to the Phoenix Market City Mall in Viman Nagar area of Pune which had also caused widespread panic.

The mall’s management had quickly alerted the authorities, leading to a thorough investigation by the police and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS).

The threat was reported by Aditya Rajesh Shitole, a 30-year-old manager at the mall. On Saturday afternoon, Shitole reviewed an email received by Senior Manager Sandeep Singh at the mall. It was revealed that the email threatened to plant a bomb in Phoenix Mall.
