Pune: In a significant operation, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has successfully canceled the Indian passports of 42 Bangladesh nationals who had been living illegally in Maharashtra using fake documents.

The investigation began in January when the ATS received a tip-off about five Bangladeshis residing in the Nigdi police station area. Acting on this information, the Nigdi police arrested the individuals. During the investigation, it was revealed that a passport agent had been facilitating these activities since 2015.

Using the information gathered and mobile data, the ATS, in coordination with the Foreigners Registration Office and Special Branch II, reached out to the Regional Passport Office in Pune. The detailed information provided led to the cancellation of the 42 fraudulent passports.

The Pune Passport Office managed the sensitive matter effectively, ensuring the cancellation of the passports. The entire operation, which took six months, was conducted under the supervision of Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey.

This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police to tackle illegal immigration and maintain security within the region.
