Pimpri-Chinchwad: ST Services Disrupted, PMPML Services Unaffected

Pune: The heavy downpour has prompted the State Transport (ST), PMPML, and railway administrations to take precautionary measures. ST services from Vallabhnagar depot to Velas, Dapoli, and Makhjan have been canceled, affecting holiday travelers to Konkan, though overall passenger impact was minimal due to the Sunday (August 4) holiday.

Since Sunday morning (August 4), the rains have been intense, causing waterlogging on many roads. This has forced the ST, PMPML, and railway administrations to cancel some of their services.

The Vallabhnagar ST depot has canceled trips on the Velas, Dapoli, and Makhjan routes. Typically, one or two trips are made on these routes daily, but the cancellations have caused inconvenience to passengers.

PMPML Services Running Smoothly

While PMPML administration has also canceled bus trips when roads are waterlogged, services on all routes are currently operating smoothly as the roads are clear. However, the road near the river under the Harris Bridge has been closed, so buses are not running on this route.

Water on Railway Tracks at Dehuroad

Water has accumulated on the railway tracks at Dehuroad. Nevertheless, local and other railway services are running smoothly. Decisions will be made based on the water level, according to Public Relations Officer Ram Bargappa.

Sunday Holiday Minimizes Passenger Inconvenience

A significant number of people travel by train from Pimpri-Chinchwad to Mumbai, and many use ST and PMPML services. However, since Sunday was a holiday, there was less passenger traffic, minimizing the impact of the rains.

Due to heavy rainfall in the Konkan region, bus trips on three routes to that area have been canceled. The canceled routes include Velas, Makhjan, and Dapoli. If the rains intensify, further trips may be canceled, as instructed by Sanjay Walve, Depot Manager, Vallabhnagar ST Depot, Pimpri-Chinchwad.

In Thergaon, water usually accumulates near Aditya Birla Hospital, and similarly, in Alandi. Currently, there isn't significant water accumulation, so PMPML services are operating smoothly.
