Pune: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Pimpri Chinchwad Crime Branch Unit One has arrested two individuals for selling narcotic injections.
The arrested suspects, Sumit Ganesh Pille (32) and Kanishkaraj alias Rana Arun Surwase (21), were found with mephedrone sulfate injections valued at ₹32,400.
The arrests took place following a tip-off received by Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Doiphode. The Crime Branch team was on patrol in the Chikhli area when they learned that the two suspects were stopped near the HP Petrol Pump in Newalevasti, Chikhli, and were carrying narcotic drugs.
The police swiftly set up a trap, apprehended the suspects, and confiscated the drugs along with two motorcycles and two mobile phones, amounting to a total value of ₹2,32,000.
This operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Vinaykumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner Shashikant Mahavarkar, Additional Commissioner Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Doiphode, Assistant Commissioner Vishal Hire, and Assistant Commissioner Balasaheb Kopnar.
Senior Police Inspector Jitendra Kadam led the team, which included Sub-Inspector Shivaji Kanade and Police Constables Somnath Borhade, Mahadev Jawale, Manoj Kumar Kamble, Shridhan Ichke, Ajit Rupnawar, Pramod Garje, and Tanaji Pansare.
Youth Arrested for Marijuana Sale, 310 Grams Seized
Pimpri-Chinchwad police arrested a 25-year-old man, Atish Sanjay Nimbalkar, for selling marijuana in the Sambhajinagar area of Chinchwad.
The arrest took place on Thursday evening, following a tip-off received by Crime Branch Unit Two. During the operation, officers confiscated 310 grams of marijuana valued at ₹15,500.
The arrest came after law enforcement officials received information about a person attempting to sell marijuana in Sambhajinagar. Acting swiftly, the police laid a trap and apprehended Nimbalkar, who was found in possession of the drugs. The case has been registered at Nigdi Police Station, and further investigations are ongoing.
