'PM Vishwakarma' Gets a Break Due to Model Code of Conduct

Vishwakarma Yojana was launched in September 2023 for citizens with traditional skills to set up their businesses.

Pune: As many as 47,000 people have applied for the 'PM Vishwakarma' scheme in the district. The process has come to a standstill due to the code of conduct.

However, his applications are likely to be rejected as many are not traditional artisans. The administration said that the verification of applications was delayed as the fingerprints of some sarpanches were not visible.

Vishwakarma Yojana was launched in September 2023 for citizens with traditional skills to set up their businesses. However, no one has benefited yet and the application process is being implemented.

So far, 47,727 people have applied for the PM Vishwakarma Yojana. Of these, 41,411 applications were verified at the gram panchayat level. In the first phase, sarpanches have been empowered to verify online applications at the gram panchayat level.

However, in some gram panchayats, sarpanches had found it difficult to fill the information online. The verification is being delayed as the sarpanch's fingerprints are not visible. Meanwhile, some will be deprived of benefits because they are not traditional workers.

Highest number of applications from Daund
Daund and Junnar talukas have received the highest number of applications for the PM Vishwakarma Yojana. There have been 9,000 and 6,000 applications, respectively. Shirur taluka has the highest rate of verification of applications.

So far, 95.31 per cent of the total applications in Shirur taluka have been verified in the first phase. The lowest number of applications came from Mulshi taluka, while the lowest number of applications were verified in Maval taluka, the administration said.
