PMC Tender Dispute: BJP Worker Threatened with Revolver, Junior Engineer Booked

Pune: In a dramatic turn of events, a BJP worker faced a life-threatening situation when a junior engineer from the Pune Municipal Corporation’s sewage department allegedly pointed a revolver at him.

The dispute arose over a lucrative ten crore contract. The incident took place on Sunday in the Ganj Peth area, leading to a police case against the engineer and his brother.

The junior engineer, Ganesh Rajendra Gite, aged 37, and his brother Mahesh, aged 35, both residents of Kirad Galli, Bhavani Peth, were charged based on a complaint filed by Nirmal Motilal Harihar, a 36-year-old BJP worker and contractor. Harihar, who resides near Mangal Club Friends Circle in Ganj Peth, reported the incident to the Khadak police station.

According to the police report, the incident occurred around 2:30 pm on July 21. Harihar was en route to a BJP executive meeting in Balewadi when he stopped near the Mangal Club Friends Circle. It was there that he encountered Ganesh Gite and his brother Mahesh.

The junior engineer allegedly pointed a revolver at Harihar's stomach and hurled casteist insults at him, questioning his capability to secure the ten crore tender. "Are you worthy of filling the tender for ten crore rupees?" he threatened.

The gravity of the situation prompted immediate action from senior police officials, including Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Singh Gill, Assistant Commissioner of Police Machhindra Khade, Senior Police Inspector Vishwajit Kaingade, and Crime Branch Inspector Santosh Khetmalas.

The case is currently under investigation by Assistant Commissioner Khade.
