Pune: A speeding PMPML bus caused chaos on Nehru Road early Friday morning, injuring three people after it collided with passengers standing at a bus stop and a nearby rickshaw.

The incident occurred in front of Sonawane Hospital, leaving one of the victims, Yuvraj Baban Navale, with serious injuries.

At approximately 9 a.m., passengers Yuvraj Navale (resident of Kuran, Junnar Taluka) and Kusum Vishwanath Londhe (resident of Tadiwala Road) were waiting at the PMP bus stop when an out-of-control bus rammed into them. The bus continued for a short distance and then collided with a parked rickshaw, injuring its driver, Faruq Sheikh.

All three injured victims were quickly rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, where Navale's condition was reported to be serious. Londhe and Sheikh also sustained injuries but are expected to recover.

Police officials, led by Senior Inspector Shashikant Chavan and Crime Branch Inspector Sharmila Sutar, arrived at the scene shortly after the accident to assess the situation.

Initial investigations revealed that the accident occurred due to reckless driving by the bus driver, identified as Ganesh Balasaheb Naykal (35), a resident of Kharadi. A formal complaint was filed against Naykal by Kishor Balaji Pardeshi, a local resident.

The police are investigating the incident, and the driver has been charged for negligence, which led to the unfortunate accident. Constable Yelpale is leading the investigation.

Authorities are urging bus drivers to exercise caution, particularly in high-traffic areas like bus stops.
