Pune: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is contemplating a price increase for apartments in its housing projects.

The current prices, which were set over a decade ago in 2012-13, are now under review by the Commissioner, with a decision pending on whether to implement a hike.

Officials have been asked to submit information regarding the potential price increase, but no final decision has been made yet, according to the PMRDA administration.

PMRDA had initially planned to release the remaining apartments in the Walhekarwadi housing scheme and the Peth No. 12 project by the end of July. However, due to technical issues, this plan was delayed.

Communication with MHADA was initiated in hopes of conducting the lottery for these homes soon. The delay has prompted inquiries from citizens eager for the lottery to proceed.

The PMRDA has developed 792 homes in Peth No. 30 and 32 of Walhekarwadi. This project includes 378 one-room kitchen apartments for the economically weaker section (EWS) and 414 one-BHK apartments for the low-income group (LIG).

In Peth No. 12, under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, 4,883 houses were constructed, with 3,317 designated for the EWS and 1,566 for the LIG.

Around 550 houses remain vacant and are expected to be included in a new lottery soon. Any unsold homes after the lottery will be available to the general public.

The apartments will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, and 23 shops will also be available for purchase alongside the apartments. Despite a lottery conducted in December 2022, many of these homes remain unsold.

As a result, the Commissioner has requested a review of the current prices, which may lead to an increase. The lottery for the apartments is expected to be held shortly, with a final decision on the price adjustment still pending.

Prices for the apartments in Peth No. 30 and 32 are currently set at ₹19 lakh for a one-room kitchen and ₹25.5 lakh for a one-BHK, while prices in Peth No. 12 are ₹7.4 lakh for a one-BHK and ₹32.592 lakh for a two-BHK.
