PMRDA Files Cases Against Unauthorized Constructions in Hinjawadi and Manjari

Pune: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has launched legal action against unauthorized constructions in the Hinjawadi and Manjari areas, as part of its ongoing efforts to curb illegal developments.

Two individuals, including a man in Hinjawadi and a woman in Manjari, have been charged after failing to comply with repeated warnings from the authority.

The PMRDA had issued notices to both parties, instructing them to halt their ongoing constructions, which were being carried out without proper authorization. Despite these notices, the construction activities continued, prompting PMRDA to take legal recourse.

The cases have been filed under Section 54(2) of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966. The complaints were lodged at the Hinjawadi and Hadapsar police stations, covering the areas where the unauthorized construction took place.

The PMRDA has made it clear that property owners within its jurisdiction must obtain the necessary permissions before beginning construction projects.

Dr. Deepti Suryavanshi-Patil, Deputy District Officer for the Unauthorized Construction Eradication Department at PMRDA, stated, “Any ongoing unauthorized construction should be stopped immediately. If the violations persist, further legal action will be taken according to the relevant regulations.”

Legal Consequences for Violators
Under the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966, Section 54 provides strict consequences for those involved in unauthorized construction.

If a notice is issued and the construction is not stopped, violators may face imprisonment of up to three years, a fine of ₹5,000, or both.
