Pune: The ongoing construction of Metro Line 3 between Mann-Hinjewadi and Shivajinagar has caused significant damage to the roads, leading to widespread frustration among local residents and commuters.

The deteriorating road conditions, filled with potholes and loose sand, have made daily commuting a hazardous experience. In response to these growing concerns, Dr. Yogesh Mhase, Commissioner of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), has taken decisive action by issuing a formal notice to the concessionaire, Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited.

For weeks, citizens and vehicle owners traveling through this key corridor have been facing mounting challenges due to the poor state of the roads.

The metro authorities, tasked with maintaining and transferring the roads during construction, have left sections of the road dug up, worsening the situation. As a result, the risk of accidents has increased, sparking public outrage, with many citizens voicing their concerns.

In light of these complaints, PMRDA has stepped in. Commissioner Mhase has issued a 15-day ultimatum to Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited, mandating that the damaged roads be repaired promptly.

The notice, delivered on September 5, underscores the urgency of the situation and threatens to halt metro construction in Section 1 if the repairs are not completed within the given timeframe.

The Mann-Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar metro line is a crucial project for the region, but the impact on local roads has become a major issue. Commissioner Mhase’s stern warning reflects the administration's commitment to ensuring public safety and minimizing inconvenience to commuters during the construction period.
