Police Constables Had Reunited Lost Girl with Parents Just Before Accident

Constables Koli and Shinde posted photo of the girl at 1.07am in their Police group on Whatsapp. This proved to be last photograph of Koli.

Pune: Police constables Samadhan Koli and Sanjog Shinde from Khadki Police Station had reunited a lost girl with her parents, just few minutes before a speeding car hit their patrol bike in Bopodi area on Sunday (July 7) late night.

According to latest information, constables Koli and Shinde were on patrol duty when they encountered an 11-year-old girl at a bus stop in the Khadki area.

After speaking with the girl and obtaining her parents' contact information, they learned that she resided in the Pimple Saudagar area. The officers contacted her parents, verified their identities, and safely reunited the girl with her family.

Following this incident, Constables Koli and Shinde posted a photo of the girl at 1.07am in their jurisdictional police group to inform their colleagues. This proved to be the last photograph of constable Koli.

As they proceeded on their patrol towards Bopodi on their motorcycle, a speeding four-wheeler collided with their vehicle. Constable Samadhan Koli tragically died on the spot, while Constable Sanjog Shinde sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.

Meanwhile, the driver of the car has been identified by police. The suspect identified is Siddharth Raju Kengar alias Gotya (24). Kengar has been detained and the car has been seized.

He was detained from his home. He has been sent for medical examination at Sassoon Hospital,” said a senior police officer.

Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad cities has witnessed several hit-and-run accidents in the past two months. The Porsche car hit-and-run accident, involving the minor son of Vishal Agarwal, had caused a public outrage after the incident. Investigations revealed that the minor was driving the car under the influence of alcohol at a speed of 110 kmph.
