Pune: Bharati Vidyapeeth police uncovered illegal sales of alcohol and beer, along with open hookah smoking, at 7 Miracle - Lounge & Restro near Daripul. The police acted swiftly after discovering that these activities were being conducted without proper licenses.
On October 1, a police team led by sub-inspector Nilesh Mokashi, along with constables Deshmukh, Mahangre, Shedge, and Sarpale, was conducting a routine patrol aimed at cracking down on illegal activities in the area.
As they approached the 7 Miracle Hotel, they noticed the distinct smell of hookah coming from inside. The team entered the premises and found an individual smoking hookah in one of the rooms.
A variety of hookah flavors and pots were spread out on the table, alongside bottles of beer and liquor.
Upon questioning, the person was identified as Siddharth Kamerikar (27), a resident of Dhankawadi. Further investigation revealed that the establishment was selling these items without the required licenses. The police seized goods worth ₹11,495, including hookah equipment, beer, and liquor bottles.
Two individuals, Yash Pawar (25) and Siddharth Kamerikar, were booked in connection with the case. Bharati Vidyapeeth police have registered a complaint and are continuing their investigation, with sub-inspector Mokashi leading the efforts.
Kondhwa police had recently raided Mash Resto in Kondhwa leading to charges against five individuals. Police had confiscated tobacco products and hookah equipment valued at ₹36,000 during the operation.
Those charged include the hotel owner, Ali Irani (66), manager Ali Syed (28), and three hotel employees – Thomas Sujay Mandal (30), Ranjan Samarth Patra (27), and Rajkumar Vaman Pandit (30).
