Police Seize Rs 36 lakh from Chakan

The action was taken by Assistant Police Inspector Prasanna Jarhad and his team.

Chakan: The Crime Branch of the Police seized Rs 36 lakh cash from a car in front of Vishal Garden on Chakan-Shikrapur road around 7.15 pm on Wednesday. It has been seized by the police.

Kiran Shivle, a resident of Mahalunge, could not be reached for comment. The exact reason will come out after Shivle clarifies where the money came from and to whom it was to be paid.

The income tax department will then be informed about the amount, police said.

The action was taken by Assistant Police Inspector Prasanna Jarhad and his team, said Pramod Wagh, senior police inspector of Chakan police station.

The Chakan police have put up barricades at various places ahead of the Assembly elections. Vehicles are being checked at this time.
