Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is speeding up the work of plugging potholes around the chambers on the roads in the central part of Pune, but the work of repairing the potholes around the chambers in the suburbs is still going on at a slow pace.
During the monsoon, there were a large number of potholes on the city's roads. Repairing potholes on roads was given priority by the PMC's roads department.
Accordingly, potholes on major roads in the city were immediately plugged. This provided some relief to the citizens from the traffic jam.
Meanwhile, potholes had formed around the chambers on the roads connecting major roads like Bajirao Road, Laxmi Road and Kumthekar Road in the city.
Work is currently underway to repair the potholes by the maintenance vehicle of the road department. As a result, the potholes around the chamber on the roads around the peths have been reduced to some extent.
The problem of potholes continues in Hadapsar, Yerawada, Vishrantwadi, Vadgaon Sheri, Wanwadi, Mundhwa, Bopodi, Aundh, Kothrud, Warje, Karvenagar, Vadgaon, Katraj, Dhankawadi, Market Yard, Bibvewadi and the newly incorporated villages of the city.
At the same time, potholes have formed around the road chambers there too. If the wheel of the bike goes into the pits around the chamber, there is a possibility of serious accidents.
The road department is also carrying out pothole repair work in the suburbs, but the work is going on at a slow pace. If the work is expedited, it is likely to reduce the suffering of the citizens.
The roads department has allotted different parts to each person in the suburbs, who are carrying out pothole repair works in most of the places. Patchwork work has also been completed in many places, said Anirudh Pawaskar, Head, Road Department, Municipal Corporation.
If the wheel of the bike goes into the pit around the chamber on the road, the vehicle hits hard. This causes a blow to the waist and neck. Such incidents can also lead to serious accidents. Therefore, the repair work of potholes should be done immediately, said Kiran Bhavsar from Warje Malwadi
