Pune: Significant disruptions are expected on several train routes as the Indian Railways undertakes 'Electronic Interlocking' work at the Daund railway station yard in the Pune division.

This essential upgrade is scheduled for next month and will require a seven-day 'power block,' during which many services will be affected. Passengers are advised to check the latest schedules and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid inconvenience during this period.

Senior railway officials have indicated that the exact dates for this work on the 'main line' towards Pune at Daund station have yet to be finalized. However, it is anticipated to occur in the first or second week of July.

The Divisional Circular Notice (DCN) suggests that approximately 20 trains will be canceled daily, and another 20 will have their routes altered. This will significantly impact services on the Solapur-Pune-Mumbai corridor.

During this period, 20 trains, including the afternoon Solapur-Pune Intercity, will be canceled. Additionally, several key trains from South India will be halted, and others will be rerouted. Trains traveling to Pune via Kurduwadi and Latur are expected to arrive later than scheduled.

Furthermore, the yard work at Daund will also affect the Daund Chord Line. Rail services on this line will be suspended for a day, impacting 28 trains operating between Pune and Manmad. This disruption is likely to cause considerable inconvenience to passengers relying on these services.

Meanwhile, the Daund Chord line is set for a major upgrade with the introduction of a second track, eliminating the need for 28 trains traveling between Pune and Manmad to stop for crossings.

This improvement is expected to save at least 30 minutes on travel time for these routes. Currently, trains heading from Pune to Manmad stop at Patas for crossings, while those coming from Manmad to Pune stop near Kashti. With the double line, no trains will need to stop for crossings.
